OUR SETTING
Jolly Minds Childminding is a home based childcare setting located in Claygate that is run by myself. Our setting cares for children from birth to 5 years of age in a home from home environment.
We will provide services that will be safe, secure and provide parents with the peace of mind that their child will be taken care of in a caring, supportive and happy environment.
I will treat every child with equal concern and respect to meet their individual needs, regardless of gender, social background, ethnic origin, religion, age or ability.
I will always help children to feel good about themselves and others, by celebrating the differences which make us all unique. We recognise the multi-cultural, multi faith and ever-changing nature of our society and therefore I will be actively promoting the British Values in my setting.
My setting has one main room downstairs that will be used for activities, games and can also be used as a relaxing area in the late afternoon. I have a wealth of resources and books which will continuously be rotated to keep the setting not only Covid secure, but also keep the children’s interest, providing them with various options to play with.
Children will be able to explore many different interests and interactive experiences to develop them as individuals.
Children will get opportunities to regularly explore and be one with nature. I will provide opportunities for children to take part in outdoor activities as much as possible, weather permitting. Jolly Minds is around the corner from two lovely woodland areas and is also located within walking distance from Claygate common which has lovely green space with a playground suitable for all ages.
I am also lucky enough to have an enclosed and well-equipped garden which will encourage children to explore the outdoors via an array of outdoor toys. Your child can safely and securely explore the garden space with a variety of toys to share and play together while building a strong sense of friendship and community.
My garden has an enclosed trampoline, slide, playhouse, ride on toys, outdoor kitchen, water area, music area, mud kitchen, all of which are all only to be used under my supervision.
There is also a separate warm and cosy sleeping room upstairs for babies and young children. The other children will each have a sleeping mat with a pillow and blanket of their own for nap time in the main room downstairs.
I have been Covid vaccinated and look forward to getting together with other local childminders and their mindees to socialise. I will also be taking your child on regular outings to local parks, soft plays, play groups and children’s centres, once restrictions have been lifted.
Jolly Minds will have weekly mealplan that provide healthy, nutritious snacks and meals for all the children in my care.
OUR LEARNING
My goal is to provide a safe, warm and loving environment where children can develop vital skills.
My setting will provide daily activities and opportunities based on the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS) where children will learn through play. The cornerstone of my childminding setting is a Child Centered approach with learning that focuses on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play.
Children regardless of their age will participate in activities based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework which will be outlined in a year-round daily curriculum. It will enable your child to experience, investigate, interact, create, as well teach them to care about others whilst developing their lively minds.
Our daily routine will include different child and adult led activities and themes ranging from colours, numbers, body parts, songs, role play to exercise, outdoor activities and lots more age appropriate fun.
As a former PE teacher I value the role that Health and Wellbeing plays in developing the whole child. My setting will therefore have daily physical activities and I plan to have children take part in out-door activities as much as possible if the weather permits it.
At Jolly Minds, I recognise the important role of parental involvement in a child’s early years and I look forward to working in partnership to discover your child's interests, needs and help them achieve their potential.
In line with EYFS requirements, I will regularly observe and assess your child’s progress, plan their next steps and use interactive platforms to involve you every step of the way.
